Numbness
Numbness is a loss or reduction of sensation in a part of the body, often affecting the hands, feet, arms or legs. It may feel like a lack of feeling, heaviness or a “dead” sensation in the skin. Numbness is usually caused by problems in the nervous system, such as nerve compression, injury, diabetes, stroke or conditions like multiple sclerosis. It can occur suddenly or develop gradually and may be accompanied by tingling, weakness. Identifying the underlying cause is important for proper treatment. Depending on the condition, management may include medications, physical therapy to help restore & prevent further nerve damage.
